Hi when clicking on various pages around the site, the url appears to include the index.php for example on this page https://ltech.ljmu.ac.uk/index.php/staff-help/. Is there a way to set it as https://ltech.ljmu.ac.uk/staff-help/ for example?

Sure, these are your “permalinks” settings; which you will find in Settings > Permalinks.

The most popular options are “Post name” or “month and name” (or even “day and name” if you have a very active blog with many articles posted every day).

More info on this at https://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks
