Insert Media – Photo File Names

Why, when you click on the picture (I inserted it into the blog post), does it take you to a blank page with just the file name of the photo?

That is because this image is set to link to the “media attachment page”.

When using the media uploader to insert image into your post, you have the option to link to either:
    – the attachment page (which is automatically generated by WP and I admit is not that much interesting)
    – to the media file itself (that is, the image alone, not even a page)
    – to nothing. This option simply inserts the image without making it clickable
    – or to a custom URL that you can input

Only the last two options make sense if you ask me.
These options are located at the bottom right of the image uploader, under “ATTACHMENT DISPLAY SETTINGS”.
